The Nintendo Wii 2 Console will eventually replace the original Nintendo Wii but at present there is no planned launch date. It is unlikely to be released until at least 2012, perhaps even later. We are setting this site up to keep track of all the Nintendo Wii 2 Console news.

In the absence of any confirmed news from Nintendo, we'll have to make do with rumours. These news stories have various degrees of certainty about them. For example, at the end of the scale of, Nintendo must be mad if they don't do this, is the possibility that the Wii 2 will have an HDMI output. Despite the original Wii's huge success, it still seems incredibly strange given the inevitability of HDTV take up that they went with a standard edition. If this were to happen, then an output of 720p is likely - 1080p seems less likely.

So what of storage in the Wii 2. As with other forthcoming console developments, the Wii 2 is likely to focus on downloads rather than the current trend for hard disc games. Storage and processor speeds are essential to effective gaming in this scenario. The Wii 2 is likely to have a small internal drive which may be a low power solid state drive rather than an energy hungry, noisy hard drive.

There are likely to be some pretty impressive developments built into the Wii 2 and those Nintendo boys and girls are probably having a great time right this minute!
